"I'm looking forward to this unit because when I read Roald Dahl books, I feel like I'm in the story!" -3rd grader December? Already? Come on!!! We truly can't believe that their are only a few more weeks in the year 2013. Time with your children has been exciting, rewarding, and full of joy. A heartfelt thank you for sending us such wonderful students. This week, we recounted our Thanksgiving holidays with each other while also sharing some things that we are thankful for. Some contributions were: parents, teachers, siblings, health, and warm apple pie...mmmm. Come check out our 'Gratitude Tree' outside the classroom to see what else the third grade is thankful for. Exciting news from the reading front: your child will be engaging in an author study starting next week (such a grown up thing to do). Our author of choice? That's right, the wonkalicious, scrumdiddlyumptious Roald Dahl! For this unit, students will be selecting which Roald Dahl book they would like to read (10 to choose from). They will then share their thoughts about their particular book with other members of the class who are reading the same book. Awesome! Also this week, students explored a few other holidays that are celebrated around the world, including Diwali and Kwanzaa (more to come next week). Stay warm! Nina and John | Memory Jogger
