April? What?! How did this happen? It's crazy that we are looking at only two more months of school. In our classroom, we have posted two calendar months on the whiteboard so the students can see just how many days of school we have left. On those calendars we have some checkpoints. A few are:
Highlights of the Week:
-Students have created their own "Superflex" characters and they have been posted on the bulletin board in our classroom. We encourage you to come check them out. These "superheroes" will be assisting your child in defeating the "unthinkables" such as Rockbrain, WasFunnyOnce, and Glassman (just to name a few). Ask your child which unthinkables are easy for her to defeat, and which ones are difficult.
-Students are hard at work researching for their Titanic projects. You may hear a request to use the color printer, go shopping for supplies, or be an audience for an oral presentation.
-In math, students have been introduced to the idea of equivalent fractions. Where might this have a real life application? See if you and your child can find examples of fractions in everyday life. Then see if you can name that fraction another way. (i.e one half is the same as two fourths)
-A pretty nasty schoolmaster visited Grade 3 this week. He was from Colonial Times. We wonder how he was received by the children. Our initial thoughts are that he was a little too...um...strict.
Whether or not you are celebrating a holiday this weekend, we hope you enjoy the time with your family. Time together is so special, and is a reminder to us how lucky we are to spend time with your children.
With much gratitude,
John and Nina
